About this talk
Child prodigy Adora Svitak says the world needs “childish” thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids’ big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups’ willingness to learn from children as much as to teach.
About Adora Svitak
A prolific short story writer and blogger since age seven, Adora Svitak (now 12) speaks around the United States to adults and children as an advocate for literacy.
Interesting piece from PBS’s NewsHour on the new media operation at the White House and the DNC:
“Every child should be taught to cook in school, not just talk about nutrition all day. Good food can be made in 15 minutes. This could be the first generation where the kids teach the parents.” -Jamie Oliver, at TED
What is TED you ask? I don’t really know since they won’t invite me, but these days it’s an annual conference that invites all the cool people you want to hear talk and hang out with, to, well, talk and hang out. It’s about Technology, Education, and Design and it always produces a ton of interesting content. Floating around on the internets today we find a presentation by celebrity chef, writer, and food advocate/activist Jamie Oliver. Check it out.
Jamie was also the winner of this year’s $100,000 TED prize, awarded to an individual to implement his or her “One Wish to Change the World.”

So, the iPad is FINALLY here…and it’s pretty damn cool. There has been all kinds of reaction throughout Twitter and the internet about the new toy – we’d love to hear what you thin. Maybe Josh will write up his thoughts, once he gets a chance to soak it all in. Here’s Apple’s intro video to America’s most anticipated gadget.
