Last night I did a spot on Al Jazeera English to discuss President Obama’s major speech in Cairo, Egypt. Here’s the video.

If you haven’t yet done so, you should read the full text of the Obama speech. This speech is critically important and while it’s still to be determined whether it accomplishes a new beginning for American/Muslim relations, it was clearly an important first step.

Mitt Romney has won the Michigan primary with 39%. Sen. John McCain has placed second with 30% and Mike Huckabee has come in third with 16% of the vote. CNN results can be found here.

Mitt Strips For Democracy

Wow! I just received an email in my inbox from Tagg Romney, Mitt Romney’s son, alerting me to a new video that I must check out of the Romney clan from this past summer living it up in beautiful Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. In the video, Mitt is celebrating a “day off” with the Romney’s. In the flick, he is seen mowing the lawn, surfing the interwebs, cooking s’mores, lighting fireworks and most of all, letting his hair down and taking his shirt off.

I worked on the 2002 race up in Massachusetts and I’ve seen this play before. Days before the election, the Romney camp released an ad on television showing Mitt gallivanting around topless, playing with his sons and his grandkids . This television ad was widely credited as being one of the reasons he was able to beat out Shanon O’Brien for the Governor’s seat that year.

Now, six years later, Mitt is running again and while the office he’s seeking has changed, the tactics have not. As Michiganders head to the polls today to decide Mitt Romney’s fate, the question remains: are voters in 2008 looking for tried and tested or are they willing to take the best and the buffest?

The former Governor of Massachusetts has officially announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States of America. Romney was, for the most part a failed Governor, having little accomplishments to point to. He did not seek a second term as Governor, because, well, he would have lost to this guy. Oh yeah, he’s also a liberal Democrat. UPDATE: Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Christy Mihos (a man), who will likely run as an independent for Governor of Massachusetts in 2006 is aiming to siphon votes from Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (R-MA), who is seeking the Republican nomination after current Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) decided to bow out of the race to run for President of the U.S.A.

Are Massachusetts voters excited about this run? Not sure on that yet, however, The Boston Herald is not.

On the Democratic side, there are two very viable candidates gunning for the nomination:

The race to replace outgoing Governor and Republican Presidential hopeful Willard “Mitt” Romney is heating up in Massachusetts.

The latest poll from the University of Massachusetts Lowell has Democrat Deval Patrick running neck and neck with presumed front runner Tom Reilly in the primary race.

The Lt. Governor of Massachsetts, Republican Kerry Healey, is vulnerable in the “bluest” of blue states and she definitely does not have the political talents of her current boss Gov. Romney.
