Day 46
3:35 PM CT.
While we did just cross the state line into Kansas, I don’t think the fervor over the accusations against Colorado mega-Pastor and head of the National Association of Evangelicals, Ted Haggard, over gay sex and drug allegations has died out. Haggard is one of the top evangelical ministers in the country with close ties to Bush and sway over conservative Christians around the country. Clearly folks are concerned.
So now Haggard says he did buy crystal meth but didn’t use it. He also says there was no sex between him and the male prostitute, just a massage.
Matt: “So he just bought the meth, looked at it, and they massaged each others backs? Hmm…”
Colorado was good to us as we slept and caught up on work. Now it’s a few days of driving, driving, poll watching, and driving as we return home.

Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius is out of the gate with this new ad entitled “Respect.” It’s produced by the same guy who did Wes Clark’s ads in 2004. Actually, it’s essentially the same ad with Governor Sebelius in the shot instead of General Clark.
Regardless, it’s a good ad. Check it out:
DoubleSpeak recently profiled Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Kansas held its primary yesterday and it seems that State Senator Jim Barnett has taken the gold and has earned the chance to take on Sebelius, who ran un-opposed for the Democratic nomination, in November. The only problem is he’s got no chance.
State Sen. Jim Barnett’s solid victory in the Republican gubernatorial race pushed him into a contest against Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that many Kansans doubt he can win.
Even some Republicans are doubters.
“It’s going to be hard because Kathleen Sebelius is so popular and has been good for Kansas,” said Audrey Schwegler, a GOP voter from Mission Hills, after casting her ballot at a Lutheran church.
Check out the new ad Gov. Sebelius put out last week called ‘respect’. It’s really good.
One more time, if you haven’t heard the DoubleSpeak interview with Gov. Sebelius, check it out and please forward it around to everyone you’ve ever met. Thanks!
Give ‘em hell, Governor!

Governor Kathleen Sebelius, the Democratic governor from the liberal state of Kansas, is handily beating her nearest opponent in a new poll that’s just been released.
From Rasmussen Reports:
Sebelius now leads former state House Speaker Robin Jennison 50% to 33%, a two-point shaving of the gap between them.
The governor leads State Senator Jim Barnett 49% to 37%. Last month, Sebelius led Barnett 50% to 37%.
The incumbent is viewed favorably by 68% of likely voters, unfavorably by 28%. Only 7% view her Very Unfavorably. When it comes to job performance, 64% of voters approve of how the governor is doing; 35% disapprove.
Stay tuned for DoubleSpeak’s interview with Governor Sebelius coming up in the next few weeks!

The answer is nothing right now for Governor Kathleen Sebelius. In fact, a new Rasmussen Reports poll show the the Democratic Governor has moved above the 50% mark among supporters.
From the poll:
Sebelius currently leads House Speaker Robin Jennison (R) 51% to 32% and State Senator Jim Barnett (R) 50% to 37%. In March, the governor led Jennison by 11 points and Barnett by 8 points.
Governor Sebelius is a smart politician and has been able to win in Kansas- a state that has brought us the likes of Sam Brownback and Fred Phelps. Well, also Arlen Specter- but you get the point.
Stay tuned for DoubleSpeak’s interview with Governor Sebelius in the coming weeks…
