McCain Quote of the Day

May 30th, 2007 by Joshua Skaroff

As if you needed another reason NOT to vote for John McCain, via PW comes this quote:

“I’m not sure I dislike anyone in this room enough.”

– Sen. John McCain, quoted by the Wall Street Journal, on refusing to say who he might choose to lead the Department of Education if he was elected president.

Most of the GOP’s plank these days revolves around hate. But hating education will only continue to lead America down it’s current race to the bottom. Apparently Senator McCain believes leading our nation’s educational system is a punishment instead of an opportunity.

Fred Thompson Is In

May 30th, 2007 by Matthew Slutsky

It is looking like the former Senator and more impressively former boss to “Roseanne” will run for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination. Thompson will apparently hop into the race on July 4, 2007.

From the Politico:

Fred Dalton Thompson is planning to enter the presidential race over the Fourth of July holiday, announcing that week that he has already raised several million dollars and is being backed by insiders from the past three Republican administrations, Thompson advisers told The Politico.

Clinton Gets Key Endorsement

May 29th, 2007 by Matthew Slutsky

Not a huge surprise but significant nonetheless…

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination for President.

From the LA Times:

A popular figure in the nation’s second-largest city, analysts expect Villaraigosa to have a promising future in national politics or in statewide office in California. He is widely popular among Hispanic voters, who make up an increasingly large percentage of Democratic voters in California and many other states. In 2004, 21 percent of California voters were Hispanic, according to exit polls there.

Villaraigosa’s endorsement of Clinton is not unexpected; he lavished praise on the New York senator at a campaign event in Los Angeles in March, calling her campaign “fighting for a brighter and cleaner future for all our children.” And last month, his top political consultant, Ace Smith, joined the Clinton campaign as its California director.

What do you think…could be a very interesting choice for VP for HRC? Thoughts on this?
