Wish You Were Here
Yesterday it was announced that among many other cities, New York City will face a cut of $83 million in its federal counter terrorism budget, a reduction of 40% over the previous year. The reason cited? New York’s lack of “national landmarks and icons.” Yes, Michael Chertoff still has a job.
Witness Sen. Clinton’s response:

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Congressman Peter T. King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, are responding to a Department of Homeland Security claim that New York City has no “national landmarks and icons” by sending DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff postcards of famous New York sights…
Oh, and DC is also not important according to DHS. WTF Is It Now??? has more.
